Conception Convo with Clara Hardie

Welcome to the Conception Convos! I am so excited to share the first in a series of recorded conversations about conception and the many roads that people take on their journeys to create their families. My goal is for people to share their stories in a raw and mostly unedited way (not just because I’m not a video editor, ha!) so that others can find solace and inspiration from their experiences, and most importantly, know that they are not alone on their fertility journeys.

First up we have the wonderful Clara Hardie!

Clara became a twin mom in May 2018. Her 6-year fertility journey included three rounds of In Vitro Fertilization. On weekday afternoons, she can be found playing violin with youth ages 3-18 or coaching other music teachers in transformative, equitable music education strategies. Otherwise, Clara, Marea & Orla spend almost every morning together outdoors: usually at a playground, "magical forest", or hanging out at the Detroit River. Indoor alternatives include aerial silks and dancing to a vinyl record from Daddy's huge collection.

Watch or listen to Clara’s interview above for her insight on learning how to “not think” her way to getting pregnant as a self proclaimed overachiever, making peace with her body, and her choice to be hopeful as she went through IVF and grieved the loss of her mother.

She also discusses what it’s like to work with me! Clara has her girls at the park during this interview so there is a lot of real-time twin mom action that is so sweet.

You can connect with Clara on instagram, facebook, or via the non-profit youth violin program she founded: Detroit Youth Volume.
