Imagery, a sensory way of thinking, is the natural language of the subconscious mind, a way of symbolizing inner or outer reality that includes thinking, feeling, and sensing in a tapestry that can inform and move us on all these levels of being. Imagery emerges spontaneously into consciousness in dreams, daydreams, visions, art, poetry, music, and in imagery-laden words and phrases. We can also learn to use it on purpose to open up a hidden treasure house of creativity, insight, and perspectives that can help us solve problems, avoid dangers, resolve conflicts and stimulate healing on emotional, psychological, spiritual and even physical levels.
